Day 10

Big day for mom of starfish! I think its appropriate to make a list of why it was such a good, but tiring day:

1. Grammie was here- she came with Mcdonalds, helped carry Ethan around a few stores, rocked him to sleep, bathed him (much needed)

2. I met another former starfish mom! and it gets better... she had a starfish carseat!!!! this is the most exciting part of our journey so far. The implications of this are huge. Ethan can sit upright in the car without being strangely strapped down like a tree! I don't have to break my back everytime I try to go somewhere, and Ethan doesn't feel as much like a small prisoner in my backseat. This is way too exciting for this late at night. Pictures of this to come!!!

3. Not only did former mom of starfish have a carseat, but she also let us borrow a little tikes rocking horse (see picture) and an elmo chair. The rocking horse was a huge hit with Ethan. Anything to help him be more upright and not have to lay horizontally all day. So he sat on it and watched Clifford. Doesn't get much better than that in the life of a starfish.

4. Ethan ate a lot today! well, by a lot I mean 4 chicken nuggets for lunch and a cookie! Healthy, well-rounded meal.

5. We got our official hanicapped parking tag and used it! I drove around, parked in the handicapped spaces, and looked at all the other "regular" parkers like "suckers. I used to be like you. Not for the next 5 weeks." It was a wonderful feeling.

6. and now for the biggest reason of all that today was a wonderful day.... Lisa had her baby today!!! Alexander Driver was born today weighing 6lbs 5oz in Birmingham, Alabama. Lisa was my maid of honor at my wedding and we have had parallel lives for awhile, and it continues. Soon she will be taking home her sweet 6lb infant and caring for him in the middle of the night, and one state away I will be caring for my sweet 40lb infant-like starfish in the middle of the night.

There were some other great happenings today, like Ethan getting a car pillow and car blanket from friends of ours, another great meal brought to us, and Ethan's hair no longer being nappy from bedhead over multiple nights. All of these things=good day.

Ethan is starting to scream right now so maybe not a perfect day, but at least if it gets too crazy i can just put him on the rocking horse to get his energy out.

Thankful for:
everything I mentioned! really thankful that Lisa has a healthy baby boy tonight to love and care for, and can't wait to see him. maybe starfish wants to go on a roadtrip? ooo... i don't know about that.

Kaitie, Lisa told me about your blog and your ordeal with sweet Ethan. I am praying for your family and Ethan!! Your blog is so inspiring - it reminds me that no matter what the situation, we can always find things to be thankful for and see God's blessings if we just look! Love, Emily
P.S. We are so excited about Alexander's birth! :) Praise God for his safe arrival!

Kaitie, on the other hand, your blog is so hilarious--it reminds me that no matter what the situation, we can always find more poo, more nappy hair, that children scream, and that McDonald's conspiracy to link happy (crappy food) to happy childhoods continues on. God's blessings...? Why not! Grace-they can all come under grace, yeah?

P.S. I too am excited about Alexander! More poo, more nappy hair, more screaming, and yes! More McDonalds!
