Day 18

Day 18

What a fun day... I went to work... came home and we all took a nap (Ethan has been taking wee little naps in the afternoon which gives us a little break!) and then we had a good dinner. It rained all day so it was kind of cozy to be at home after a big day at Ikea. My favorite college friends came over tonight (I meet with some gals from my church who are students at UGA for the past 2 years either doing a bible study or book study or just hanging out and eating cookies... mostly the later for the past few months:) and that really lifted my spirit today.

Jared and I gave starfish a spongebath wipe down. Must say... Day 18 is the stinkiest day of all. But I'm sure day 19 will be worse. If you've ever had a cast on your arm or leg, you know how gross it gets. Just imagine on most of your body, and imagine wearing a diaper on top of it. It's just disgusting. We go through a whole process of wiping dead skin off him as much as we can, then putting a hairdryer into the cast to dry it out, then rewrapping pads all around the openings to keep the cast from getting wet, then a diaper inside the cast, and finally a diaper outside the cast. I've taken pictures of it so one day when he's changing my diaper he can remember that everything in life comes full circle.

So we've got a big starfish/mom of starfish weekend ahead of us... Jared will be at a conference for work so me and the sea creature will be partying in A-town. I've planned a few fieldtrips and have some friends coming over. My friend from college who now lives in D.C. will be coming by on Saturday so that should be fun! And we will head over to the Woodards to get out of the house and watch a different television screen:)

Tomorrow I'm taking my class on a field trip to Barnes & Noble to do some "cultural studies" looking for patterns in human interests, a little philosophical/sociological assignment. The best part... starbucks! it should be a fun morning.

THANKFUL for:
hips that have healed from yesterday's adventure (the body is an amazing thing! some more amazing than others:) how cute Ethan looks when his hair is washed and combed over to the side like a little man, & friendships from the past and present that continue to encourage me

Glad that I had the "easy" bath times! with Ethan! but the picture in front of the mirror, made my heart hurt. It just shows the incredible angle his little body is "stuck" in! My guess is when he sleeps his back has to hurt...that angle has to be more uncomfortable than I have the ability to understand.
Man! for this to be over for the little guy and his "star" fam--the whole lot of you, grandie, grammie, papas, mom, dad, auntie ali, ---oh for the day Ethan runs through the house on his own 2 feet! laughing! =)
