Day 19

Day 19

So this is late, because I normally blog the day of, not the day after. But it will be worth the wait because... we have special guest bloggers today. Yes, you are in a for a treat. Or at least just someone else's perspective. My friends Ashley Clark & Kim Allardyce came over to watch Ethan last night and spent the night. Besides Alice, this was my first leaving Ethan with someone(s) else:) They did a great job. Here they are to weigh in on life of starfish.

(kim & ashley speaking):
Jared was out of town, so we decided to give Kaitie a little time to herself.

So we don't know what do with babies in general, but babies in a body cast, that's an even bigger deal. We began the evening watching Blues Clues. New discovery: Blue is a girl and can talk. One can only handle so much of Blues Clues, so we attempted to switch to Pixar short films. Fun for us, not for Ethan. So, we switched to A Bug's Life. We have never wanted a movie to start SO quickly (we danced and sang to keep Ethan occupied while switching movies). How does Kaitie do this all by herself?

After some Bug's Life, we tried THE RED CHAIR...the best invention for little starfish boys. He was happy as a clam (or starfish) playing with his toys at the table, while watching, yet again, Blues Clues. Only this time we got to make dinner! While eating, we played a game called "Bang on the Table!" Ethan loved it!!

7:30 rolls around...BEDTIME! Changing any baby's diaper is an adventure, but you can only imagine what it's like to stuff one in a cast. Lucky for us, he was happy the whole time! He loved playing with his coffee bag (one of his favorite toys of the day). We thought this was a little strange at first, but after a while we realized that it was multi-sensory! It smells good, makes a cool sound when you shake it, is brightly colored, and is fun to chew on!

While we were changing the diaper, our friend Rachel Reece arrived to begin Ethan's favorite part of the night: being sung to sleep by 3 beautiful college women...if only he could really appreciate it. To settle Ethan down before bed, we decided to tickle him while all four of us shrieked and giggled with glee! It was our favorite part of the night too! So, we turned off the light and closed the door amazed at the ease of our night!

A few hours later, Kaitie returned and we talked and laughed too late into the night. Right before we went to sleep, Kaitie tucked us into her bed while chanting "tucka, tucka, tucka!" We suddenly went from babysitter to babysitee! To finish the night off, Ashley taught everyone a wiggle throw (you wiggle, wiggle, wiggle and throw yourself on the bed). Kaitie tried it. Result: Kaitie's eye meets Kim's shoulder=bent glasses for Kaitie! And there ended our wonderful adventure of a night with starfish!

thankful for: the red chair, we don't have a baby (We love Ethan though!), giggling with Ethan before bed, tucka tucka tucka!
